SIAC Signs Memorandum of Understanding with Madrid International Arbitration Centre
The Madrid International Arbitration Center (MIAC) is pleased to announce that it has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) to promote international arbitration as a preferred method for resolving international disputes.
Under the MOU, MIAC and SIAC will jointly organize in-person, hybrid, and virtual conferences, seminars and workshops on international arbitration in Spain and Singapore, and will invite key members of their local arbitration community to attend and participate in major events organised by SIAC in Spain or by MIAC in Singapore.
MIAC will, subject to the terms of the MOU, assist to request the use of hearing facilities of the MIAC´s founding courts for SIAC’s Singapore-seated arbitration hearings that are held in Madrid. In the same way, SIAC will assist to request the use of hearing facilities in Maxwell Chambers for MIAC’s Madrid-seated arbitration hearings that are held in Singapore.
Both institutions will, upon request and where appropriate, provide recommendations of arbitrators to each other, and will, upon request, conduct training programmes for each other’s staff.
The MOU was signed on 20 April 2022 by Mr José Antonio Caínzos Fernández, President of MIAC, and Ms Gloria Lim, CEO of SIAC.
Mr José Antonio Caínzos Fernández, President of MIAC, said, “MIAC is proud to sign a collaboration agreement with SIAC that aims to strengthen the ties between the two Centres in order to enhance the promotion of international arbitration as a method of dispute resolution. Trough SIAC and MIAC’s joint knowledge of their respective jurisdictions, arbitrators and companies, we believe it will result in increased quality and efficiency of arbitration services and its promotion.”
Ms Gloria Lim, CEO of SIAC, said, “SIAC and MIAC agree on the importance of providing efficient, expert and enforceable international dispute resolution services to parties from diverse legal systems and cultures such as Singapore and Spain. Through this MOU, we hope to work jointly with MIAC to promote and develop international arbitration as a preferred mode of dispute resolution for cross-border commercial disputes involving Spanish companies and businesses.”

CIAM firma un acuerdo de colaboración con SIAC
El Centro Internacional de Arbitraje de Madrid (CIAM) tiene el placer de anunciar que ha firmado un MOU (un acuerdo de colaboración) con el Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) con el objetivo de promover el arbitraje internacional como método preferido para la resolución de disputas internacionales.
En virtud de ese MOU, CIAM y SIAC organizarán, de forma conjunta, conferencias, seminarios y talleres presenciales, híbridos y virtuales sobre el arbitraje internacional en España y Singapur, e invitarán a importantes miembros de sus respectivas comunidades arbitrales a asistir y participar en los principales eventos organizados por CIAM en Singapur o CIAM en España.
CIAM, en base al MOU, ayudará a SIAC a solicitar el uso de las salas de las Cortes Fundadoras de CIAM para las audiencias en un arbitraje SIAC con sede en Singapur que se celebren en Madrid. Del mismo modo, SIAC ayudará a solicitar el uso de las salas de Maxwell Chambers para las audiencias de arbitrajes CIAM con sede en Madrid que se celebren en Singapur.
En caso de que resulte necesario y una de las instituciones lo solicite, ambas proporcionarán recomendaciones de árbitros, y llevarán a cabo mutuamente programas de formación para el personal.
El MOU ha sido firmado el 20 de abril de 2022 por el Sr. José Antonio Caínzos, Presidente de CIAM, y la Sra. Gloria Lim, CEO de SIAC.
El Sr. José Antonio Caínzos, Presidente de CIAM, declaró: “CIAM se enorgullece de firmar un acuerdo de colaboración con SIAC, con el objetivo de reforzar los lazos entre los dos centros para potenciar la promoción del arbitraje internacional como método de resolución de conflictos. Gracias al conocimiento conjunto de SIAC y CIAM de sus respectivas jurisdicciones, árbitros y empresas, creemos que se conseguirá aumentar la calidad y la eficiencia de los servicios de arbitraje y su promoción”.
La Sra. Gloria Lim, CEO de SIAC, declaró: “SIAC y CIAM están de acuerdo en la importancia de proporcionar servicios de resolución de disputas internacionales eficientes, especializados y ejecutables a partes de diversos sistemas jurídicos y culturas, como Singapur y España. A través de este MOU, esperamos trabajar conjuntamente con CIAM para promover y desarrollar el arbitraje internacional como método preferido de resolución de disputas comerciales transfronterizas que involucran a empresas y negocios españoles”.
