Mediators’ Appointment Commission

The Mediators’ Appointment Commission (the “Commission“) has the function of confirming and appointing mediators when the parties cannot agree, with the support of the General Secretariat of the Center.

The Commission is composed of seven members, including the Chair and Deputy-Chair, appointed by the Governing Council upon proposal of the Commission itself for a two-year term, which may be renewed only once. The members of the Commission are professionals with experience and prestige in the international legal world, totally independent of CIAM-CIAR and with an unpaid position.

During their term of office, members of the Commission may not be proposed or appointed as mediators by the Center. However, they may be appointed by the parties.
